Overview

The Himalayan Trek offers many amazing experiences that you will not witness in any of the other journeys you plan. The towering mountains give you a feeling of intimidation, yet they are so captivating that you would want to spend hours watching these. The unexplored terrain of the Uttarakhand region  will provide you the best trekking experience.

As most people are not aware of the Brahmatal trek, this makes it even more appealing for the visitors. As the name suggests, Brahmatal means ‘The Lake of Lord Brahma’. According to the beliefs, Lord Brahma meditated here, thus, the lake got its name. It is located at an altitude of 10,440 feet giving a scenic view surrounded by giant mountains. The landscape here changes exclusively according to the different seasons. During winters, there are snow-drifted forests and frozen lakes while the summers exhibit lush greenery all around with beautiful meadows and leafy Oak trees and the sun shining brightly on the mountain peaks.

Brahmatal Lake is an all-season trek with a plethora of natural artistry. USP of this trek is the lakeside camping at lake of Bekaltal which is done in a serene and peaceful environment. The summit showcases the magnificent Mt.Trishul, Nandaghunti, Neelkanth, Mt. Kamet and Chaukhamba. Brahmatal lake has a charm which is hard to resist. The views of Nanda Devi peak, Mount Trishul and Mount Kamet is breathtaking. The base camp of this trek is Lohajung which is famous for the story that Goddess Parvati had a fight with Lohasur and killed him at this place.

The trek

Brahmatal trek covers a distance of 30 kms taking you to a height of 12,250 feet. The starting point of this trek is Lohajung, which is at a distance of 210 kms from Kathgodam. It takes approximately 10 hours from Kathgodam to Lohajung. The second stop is Bekaltal and then your final destination is Brahmatal.

Itinerary

  • Start from Kathgodam and reach Lohajung covering a distance 210 kms.
  • 8-10 hours’ drive
  • Reach Lohajung and explore the place. You can spend time at the local market and know the culture of this place.
  • Accommodation at a guesthouse.

 

The base camp of this trek is Lohajung, which is at a distance of 210 kms from Kathgodam. Drive through the charming path offering scenic views throughout the drive. You will witness high altitude peaks of Mt. Trishul, Maiktoli, Nanda Devi, Ghori Parvat, Nanda Khat, Hathi Parvat, and Ghori Parvat. The alluring hill stations of Bhimtal, Almora, Baijnath, and Kausani are also on the way. A short break will be taken at Kausani for refreshments before checking in at the guesthouse for an overnight stay at Lohajung.

  • 6 kms. Trek
  • Approximately 4.5-5 hours of trekking
  • Ascend towards Bekaltal.
  • Food will be provided at Bekaltal campsite.

Start day 2 with a nice and delicious breakfast and start your trek with a fresh mind. A 6 kms trek will be done in approximately 4-5 hours. You will come across beautiful mountain streams, wooden bridges and enchanting views of Nandaghunti Peak. After completing this journey you will finally reach the picturesque Bekaltal Lake surrounded by oak trees. Spend the night in tents at Bekaltal campsite.

  • 7 kms Trek
  • Approximately 6 hours of trekking
  • Cover a steep trail through oak forests and expansive meadows that will lead to Brahmatal Lake.
  • After reach Brahmatal lake, indulge yourself in various activities like bird watching, star-gazing or simply explore the surreal beauty of this scenic lake.
  • Food will be provided at campsite

On day 3, your trek till Brahmatal lake starts.It will take around 6 hours to reach there. Making your way through steep slopes you will reach a meadow called Telindi top.

Enjoy the views of mighty Himalayas before proceeding from Brahmatal (also known as Khabekhal Lake). Overnight stay is arranged in tents at the campsite.

  • Approximately 5-6 hours of trekking
  • An alluring 360-degree view of the magnificent Himalayan peaks from the top
  • Food will be provided at campsite

Day 4 will be important as you will finally climb to the top of Brahmatal. Some tricky trails at Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar awaits you. Be careful while covering steep path of around 2.5 hours  to reach the top. During this climb you will get an exotic and close-up view of Mt.Trishul and Nandaghunti. Also, take in the beauty of Chaukhambha, Nilgiri, Neelkanth, Maituli, Mana, Mt.Trishul, Nandaghunti covering Panchauli ranges to Shivalik Himalayas. After enjoying the nature at its best, head back towards the campsite for an overnight stay.

  • 9 kms Trek.
  • Approximately 7-8 hours of trekking.
  • Reach Lohajung and try the local cuisine
  • Accommodation at a guesthouse.

On this day, you will be heading back towards the starting point Lohajung. Enjoy the natural beauty in immense while covering the path. Once you reach Lohajung, explore this little town, talk with the local people and also try some local cuisine. Spend the night at the guesthouse.

  • Drive back to Kathgodam
  • Approximately 8-10 hours long drive
  • Buy some knick knacks at Kausani
  • Reach Kathgodam to end the journey

After spending 5 amazing days in the lap of Himalayas, you will now head back to Kathgodam on the 6th and the last day. Drive through the scenic views of nature. Indulge in some shopping and eating at Kausani and then reach Kathgodam to end your tour.

Terms & Conditions

  • In case of cancellation from the organiser’s end (due to Lockdown, Natural calamities including, snowstorms, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes, bad weather or unexpected political unrest, terrorism activity, curfews, local riots, or government orders), the booking would be transferred to another departure. 
  • In case the client refuses to transfer the booking, there shall be no cash refund. Clients will be liable for a voucher, which can be redeemed as per the client’s desire and upcoming tour dates.
  • If the cancellation is from the client’s end at any point of time post the registration refund will be provided as per the details mentioned below:- 
    • Before 30 days- 90% of the total trip cost will be refunded or 100% of trek fee in voucher
    • Between 29 to 15 days- 70% of the total trip cost will be refunded or 80% trek fee in voucher
    • 14 to 7 days- 50% of the total trip cost will be refunded or 70% trek fee in voucher
    • 6 to 0 days - NO REFUND, NO VOUCHER
  • No show would mean no refund
  • In case a client wishes to alter the booking date, Trekkers Of India reserves the right to do so, provided the request is made 45 days before the initial departure date.
  • Booking amount and 5% GST is non-refundable.
  • Any refund issued will be made within 7-14 working days from the date of cancellation.
  • 4% payment processing charges will be applied to refunds.
  • The refund amount will be calculated from the total fee, in case any partial payment has been made.

Note- NO REFUND ON UNUTILIZED SERVICES OF THE PACKAGES, (IF ANY)

  • ₹2,000/- registration amount (to be paid to confirm booking)
  • Remaining amount to be paid before 45 days of the departure.
  • Booking confirmations are subject to the availability of accommodation in specified hotels.
  • Cheques not accepted.
  • Payments accepted via UPI, Credit Card, and Net Banking (in case of payment via credit card 3% extra will be charged).
  • Once the payment is completed, inform our team via sharing a screenshot/ copy of the payment confirmation. Make sure the date, time, and UTR number are visible in the copy.
  • If a solo female traveller does not wish to share accommodation an additional cost will be charged.   

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Trekkers Of India reserves the right to alter the day-wise schedule of the tour without any prior information (based on traffic, route restrictions or unforeseen travel-related circumstances). 
  • In case there is an unprecedented surge in transportation or accommodation costs (for instance, a hike in fuel charges), the total cost of the package will also increase.
  • Trekkers Of India will not be responsible for any change in the itinerary due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances. Any additional cost incurred for the same will be in addition to the cost borne by the client.
  • Anything that is not mentioned in the inclusions is not a part of this package. 
  • Images of the sites, city, hotel, etc. are for illustration purposes only. 
  • Additional charges would be applied for the passengers who wish to stay back at the destination or transit.
